다들 설날은 잘 보내셨나요?

벌써 2023년의 1월도 지나가고, 2월이 다가왔네요. 

시간이 너무 빨라요 ㅠ.ㅠ

 

먼 미국에서 정말 자랑스러운 소식이 전해졌어요.

얼마전, 미국 소셜 리뷰 플랫폼 옐프(Yelp)가 최근 미국에서 꼭 방문할만한 식당 100곳을 발표했는데요. 
이 중 1위를 차지한 곳이 바로~ 바로! 로스앤젤레스 다운타운에 있는 ‘Broken Mouth’ 예요. 

브로큰 마우스(Broken Mouth) 라는 이름은

 ‘씹을 시간이 없을 정도로 말없이 먹게 되는 맛있는 음식’을 표현하는 

하와이 방언 ‘Broke Da Mout’에서 유래됐다고 하네요.

오너 셰프 팀 리(Tim Lee) 씨가 운영하는 이곳은 한국과 하와이 퓨전 스타일 식당으로, 

스팸을 얹어 만든 무수비가 대표적인데요! 
선보이는 음식들은 하와이 음식에 한국적 특색을 가미한 것으로, 

흰 쌀 대신 자색 잡곡과 한국식 나물을 사용한 것이 특징이에요. 
얇게 썬 쇠고기 등심을 하와이 스타일로 튀긴 ‘미트 준’, 

바삭한 두부 요리도 이 레스토랑을 대표하는 메뉴입니다. 
특히, 오이김치는 한국인들에게는 익숙한 반찬 중에 하나죠? 👍🏻 

당당히 켈리 클락슨 쇼에도 초대를 받아 출연했습니다. 
✋🏻 많은 사람들에게 입소문 났을 뿐만 아니라 옐프 1위로 선정된 만큼 

현재 줄이 길~게 늘어섰다고 하니, 참고하시구요!

In Hawai’i, locals use the phrase “Broke Da Mout” to describe food so good, one hardly has time to chew. The saying evolves on our journey from the Korean-Hawaiian home to BROKEN MOUTH in Los Angeles.

BROKEN MOUTH is an original food concept founded and operated by local Hawai’i boy, Tim Lee. From the fondest memories of childhood spent around the dinner table, we bring Korean homestyle food of Hawai'i to Downtown Los Angeles, in efforts to share Tim’s love for food and family. Our guests dining with us are invited to catch a glimpse into our home with the belief that food is a universal language, breaking boundaries across all cultures.

Korean by blood, Hawaiian at heart—our local Kaimuki boy, Chef Lee, was born and raised on the island of Oahu. In a leap of faith, Tim relocated to the Mainland. After years in corporate restaurant management, he decided to throw caution to the wind and gave life to an eatery of his own. We bring a little Los Angeles swagger to the charming local vibes represented at BROKEN MOUTH while staying true in paying homage to the roots of Hawai’i.
